EPA Chief Lisa Jackson to Step Down

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lisa P. Jackson announced last Thursday that she will resign her post. The EPA during Jackson’s tenure enacted curbs on air pollution, including: 1) the first greenhouse-gas standards for vehicles, 2) cuts in pollution from power plants, and 3) tighter limits on soot. Jackson will step down shortly after President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address next month.

FPL May Get Energy from EcoGen Biomass

The documents indicate that FPL would buy energy produced at three U.S. EcoGen plants using biomass as fuel. The type of biomass to be used was not named. The documents suggest U.S. EcoGen would start delivering energy in 2019 or before.
