ARP Conservation Program Quarterly Report

The All-Requirements Project’s (ARP) Conservation Program published its second quarter report for fiscal 2013. The report indicates that between Jan. 1 and March 31: 1) ARP participants spent $193,780 on energy-saving measures for their customers, and 2) the energy saving measures have the potential to save customers almost 1.3 million kWh per year and 12,993 MWh over the life of the measures taken. Congratulations, Richard Montgomery

Congratulations to Richard Montgomery, who is the new Risk Program Manager. Richard began his new position May 6 and now reports to Rich Popp.

Hurricane Response Workshops

The Hurricane Response Workshops on Wednesday will be held at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center in Orlando. The workshops were originally scheduled to be held at Nova Southeaste University in Orlando, but the high number of registrants required the move to a larger facility. A representative from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will hold a free applicant’s briefing from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to discuss FEMA’s disaster assistance reimbursement process. Immediately following the briefing, FMEA hosts a hands-on workshop from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. where an instructor will facilitate a mock disaster response to a fictional hurricane strike. Audit and Risk Oversight Committee

The Audit and Risk Oversight Committee meets Thursday at 8:30 a.m. in the Board room to discuss: 1) selection of an exteal auditor for fiscal 2013, and 2) a recommendation to the ARP Executive Committee on the purchase of terrorism property coverage. Board of Directors

The Board of Directors meets Thursday in the Board room at 9:30 a.m. or immediately following the Audit and Risk Oversight Committee meeting. The Board will discuss: 1) approval of the refunding of the Stanton 2002 bonds and issuance of new bonds for capital expenditures, and 2) approval of the refunding of the Tri-City 2003A bonds and issuance of new bonds for capital expenditures. ARP Executive Committee

The All-Requirements Project Executive Committee meets Thursday in the Board room at 10 a.m. or immediately following the Board of Directors meeting. The Committee will discuss: 1) approval of the renewal of the JP Morgan line of credit, 2) approval of the All-Requirements Project’s Series 2008C reduction in letter of credit fee, 3) approval of an FMPA representative and alteate to the Florida Gas Utility Board of Directors, and 4) approval of Amendment 6 to the Florida Municipal Power Pool agreement. Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee meets Thursday in the Board room at 12:30 p.m. or immediately following the ARP Executive Committee meeting to recommend a slate of Board officers for 2013-2014. Contact: Nick Guarriello

 



Member City Visit

Bud Boudreaux travels to Mount Dora on Friday for a member city visit with Electric Utility Manager Charles Revell.

 


Home Power Advantage Website

FMPA and the Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA) are collaborating on the development of a website to help the organizations and their members promote the value of municipal electric utilities. The site will describe the home power advantage of locally owned electric utilities by focusing on benefits such as reliable electricity, personal service, community investment and public accountability. FMPA and FMEA plan to launch the site later this year. Contact: Mark McCain

Human Resources Roundtable

FMPA will host a Human Resources Roundtable on May 22 at 10 a.m. in the first-floor conference room. The roundtable provides a forum for participants to discuss topics such as benefits, recruiting, employee retention, training, policies and more. Energy Auditor Roundtable

FMPA will hold an Energy Auditor Roundtable at Jacksonville Beach City Hall on May 23 at 10 a.m. This semi-annual roundtable provides a forum for participants to discuss topics such as work procedures, equipment and materials, site-specific issues and industry changes. EIA Raises Forecast for Natural Gas Prices

The Henry Hub natural gas spot price, which averaged $2.75 per MMBtu in 2012, is expected to increase to an average of $3.80 per MMBtu in 2013 and $4 per MMBtu in 2014, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) www.fmpa.comhttp://www.fmpa.com/>www.fmpa.com;
