INDUSTRY NEWS

EPA to Delay Carbon Rule for New Power Plants until Mid-Summer
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will delay a final rule to reduce carbon emissions from new and modified power plants until mid-summer. A final rule was due last Thursday, but EPA said it would wait until mid-summer to issue the rule along with separate regulations to reduce emissions from existing power plants. Janet McCabe, EPA’s acting administrator for air quality, said, “It’s become clear to us … that there are cross-cutting topics that affect the standards for new sources, for modified sources and for existing sources, and we believe it’s essential to consider these overlapping issues in a coordinated fashion.
