Audit and Risk Oversight Committee

The Audit and Risk Oversight Committee met last Thursday and approved a recommendation to add language to the Committee charter requiring at least one of the Committee members to have demonstrated experience in finance. The Committee also discussed information items, including: 1) interim financial update of FMPA power supply projects, 2) fiscal 2014 management letter comments, 3) fuels market update, and 4) changes to Risk Management policies. Board of Directors

FMPA’s Board of Directors met last Thursday and approved: 1) power supply budgets, excluding All-Requirements, and the allocation of the Agency budget for fiscal 2016, and 2) evaluations of General Manager and CEO Nick Guarriello and General Counsel Fred Bryant. The Board agreed to table expansion of FMPA’s disaster recovery site until next month’s Board meeting, and the Board approved a member’s suggestion to develop a request for proposal for a salary and benefits survey. The full agenda package is available on the Member Portal. ARP Executive Committee

The ARP Executive Committee met last Thursday and approved the All-Requirements Project budget for fiscal 2016 with the addition of spending limits for TARP plant managers. The Committee agreed to table expansion of FMPA’s disaster recovery site until next month’s Committee meeting. The full agenda packageis available on the Member Portal. During the member comment portion of the agenda, the members discussed the monthly ARP rate call. The Committee directed staff to continue distributing the monthly rate information but discontinue the monthly conference call. Contact: Nick Guarriello

 

Stock Island Generating Facility

Stock Island Combustion Turbine Unit 4 completed annual emissions testing for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The tests were completed as scheduled without issues. Contact: David Schumann

Lineworker Appreciation Day

Florida’s electric lineworkers are being honored Wednesday as utilities across the state celebrate Lineworker Appreciation Day. The Florida House of Representatives in 2012 passed a resolution designating Aug. 26 as Lineworker Appreciation Day to honor the thousands of men and women who risk their lives ensuring the safe and reliable delivery of electricity throughout the state. The date was chosen in honor of Marc Moore, a lineman for Lakeland Electric who died in an electrical accident on Aug. 26, 2002.

 

All-Requirements Project Weekly Load Statistics

COMING UP

 

Meter Tech Roundtable

FMPA will host a Meter Tech Roundtable on Sept. 24 at FMPA’s Orlando office. This new roundtable provides a forum for meter technicians and meter maintenance staff to discuss topics such as operating procedures, equipment, safety, training and more. Lineman’s Roundtable

FMPA’s Lineman’s Roundtable is scheduled for Oct. 8 at Ocala Utility Services’ Operations Center. The roundtable provides a forum for line crews to exchange ideas on operating practices, safety, training, tools, equipment and other common issues. Attendance is free, and lunch will be provided. Delgado Named Lakeland Interim City Manager

The Lakeland City Commission named Deputy City Manager Tony Delgado to be the Interim City Manager. Delgado replaces current City Manager Doug Thomas, who announced his resignation Aug. 13. Delgado joined the city in 1997 as Assistant Director of The Lakeland Center. He was promoted to Assistant City Manager in 2004 and then to Deputy City Manager in 2004. Thomas’ last day is Sept. 13.
