LAST WEEK
Financial Meetings
Mark Larson, Janet Davis and Ed Nunez met last Tuesday with representatives from financial and swap advisory firm Topstone and FMPA’s financial advisor, Dunlap & Associates, to discuss current market conditions and potential ideas for refinancing the St. Lucie Project.
Cane Island Owners Charitable Project
Jim Hay and Mark McCain met last Thursday with representatives from Zachry and Kissimmee Utility Authority to discuss a charitable giving project. The Cane Island Unit 4 partners are working together on a project for the Community Breadbasket, a food bank based near the plant that serves Osceola, Orange and Polk counties. The Breadbasket’s food distribution center has been based out of a decades-old trailer that is desperately in need of replacement. The partners would like to engineer a distribution center makeover. Stay tuned for more details about fundraising and volunteer opportunities.

APPA National Conference
The American Public Power Association’s (APPA) 2010 National Conference continues today through Wednesday at the Orlando World Center Marriott. Special thanks to the nine volunteers from FMPA who will continue assisting with staffing assignments at the Conference this week.
Audit and Risk Oversight Committee
FMPA’s Audit and Risk Oversight Committee meets Wednesday in the Board room at 1 p.m. to discuss action items including: 1) approval of revision to the power supply and resource planning policy, and 2) approval of revision to FMPA’s risk management policy.
Human Resources Roundtable
FMPA’s Human Resources Roundtable will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Ocala. Participants will discuss a variety of human resources topics, such as benefits, recruiting, employee retention, training and policies. Contact: Mike Siefert
ARP Executive Committee
FMPA’s ARP Executive Committee (EC) meets Thursday in the Board room at 9 a.m. to discuss action items including: 1) approval of the All-Requirements Project and Agency budgets for fiscal years 2011 and 2012, 2) discussion of alteatives and approval of Procedure No. 2 for payment of EC member expenses to attend meetings, and 3) approval of the fiscal 2011 capacity and energy credits.
Member Portal Spotlight
This week’s Member Portal spotlight focuses on the automatic login feature available to all registered users. Remembering all of your user names and passwords for various websites can be difficult, so for easier entry to the Member Portal, try clicking the “Remember Me box directly under the Password entry box. This will eliminate the extra step it takes to log in, and it will enable one-click access to linked files on the Portal from this newsletter and e-mails from FMPA staff.
All-Requirements Project Load
The weekly update of the All-Requirements Project historical load graph has been posted on the Member Portal. The graph is updated through June 20. Contact: Jim Atz

COMING UP
Integrated Resource Plan Workshop
Save the date: FMPA will hold an Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) workshop Aug. 12 in the Board room at 10 a.m. The purpose of the workshop is to present the preliminary results of the IRP and get Executive Committee feedback on recommendations for a preferred resource option. Lunch will be provided. Contact: Michele Jackson
Project Management Workshop
FMPA hosts a two-day workshop about the Fundamentals of Effective Project Management on Oct. 13 and 14 in the Orlando office. The course provides participants with a practical approach to managing the resources, people, deadlines and real-world challenges required to complete projects on time, on target and on budget. The course costs $450 per person and is presented by Glen Whipple. launched” rel=”nofollow”>http://www.youtube.com/KUADirect>launched a dedicated channel on the popular video-sharing website YouTube last week. The channel currently features 16 videos addressing energy and water conservation, including information on air flow and air leaks, thermostats, lights and electronics, and tips on buying a new air conditioning and heating unit. Additional videos covering conservation, electrical safety and storm preparedness will be added in the coming weeks. Viewers who subscribe to the channel will be notified each time a new video is posted.
