Bushnell Appoints Mayor to PMLC

The city of Bushnell appointed Mayor Bil Spaude to FMPA’s Policy Makers Liaisons Committee (PMLC) last Monday during its City Council meeting. With Spaude’s appointment, all 14 All-Requirements Project cities now have a liaison on the PMLC. Contact: Mark McCain

 

Williston Bulk Power Cost Adjustment Review

FMPA’s Legal Department and Planning Department assisted the city of Williston with evaluating its Bulk Power Cost Adjustment (BPCA). FMPA was asked to review the city’s current method and provide recommendations for potential adjustments or changes, including possibly establishing a new BPCA formula or method. Fred Bryant, Jody Finklea, Ann Beckwith and Mike Siefert attended a workshop in Williston last Thursday where the options were discussed.

 

Peer Review

FMPA’s Peer Review Steering Committee met with a member city last Wednesday and presented a draft Peer Review report on the member’s customer service operations. FMPA’s Peer Review program allows a member city to request an independent review of its policies, procedures and practices in specific functional areas. Reviews are conducted by subject-matter experts from municipal systems around Florida. To request a Peer Review contact Mike Siefert.

FMPA Fiscal 2011 Audited Financial Statements Q&A

FMPA’s Accounting Department hosts a question and answer session via conference call on Tuesday at 9 a.m. to discuss FMPA’s fiscal 2011 audited financial statements. Contact: Mark Larson

 

Member City Visit

Fred Bryant and Bud Boudreaux travel to Bushnell on Tuesday for a member city visit with City Manager Vince Ruano and Mayor Bil Spaude.

 

FMPA Meeting with ECG Cancelled

FMPA’s meeting with Electric Cities of Georgia (ECG) originally scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday in Atlanta has been cancelled. A new meeting date will be scheduled for spring 2012. The purpose of the meeting is for FMPA members to lea more about ECG and meet the people providing services through FMPA’s Alliance membership. Contact: Mike Siefert

 

FM Global Site Visit

Rich Popp and David Schumann will conduct a site visit on Tuesday and Wednesday at Stock Island Generating Facility with representatives from FM Global, the property insurance provider for the All-Requirements Project’s power generating units. The purpose of the site visit is for FM Global to review records, perform inspections and make recommendations for the unit’s loss prevention plan.

 

Policy Makers Liaisons Committee

FMPA’s Policy Makers Liaisons Committee meets Wednesday at 2 p.m. in FMPA’s Orlando office to discuss: 1) the meeting date and location for April 2012, 2) the meter maintenance service, 3) Dr. Gant’s Inteal Hedging proposal, 4) potential federal legislative issues related to electric utilities, and 5) the most important electric issues in their communities. Audit and Risk Oversight Committee

FMPA’s Audit and Risk Oversight Committee meets Thursday at 8 a.m. in the Board room to discuss: 1) a review and recommendation of FMPA’s fiscal 2011 financial audit report to the ARP Executive Committee and Board of Directors, and 2) approval of a risk review and recommendation to the Executive Committee for FMPA’s Asset Management and Operations Risk Management Policy. Board of Directors

FMPA’s Board of Directors will hold a special-called meeting Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Board room to discuss: 1) approval for expenditure of development funds with Florida transmission service providers, and an update on the progress with transmission service providers in Georgia and the Carolinas as part of applications for transmission service supporting the feasibility study of the existing nuclear opportunity, 2) approval of the St. Lucie Project tender offer and refinancing, 3) approval of the Stanton II Project tender offer and refinancing, 4) approval of FMPA’s fiscal 2011 financial audit report, and 5) approval of the amendment agreement to the existing forward sale agreement with Merrill Lynch for the St. Lucie Project. ARP Executive Committee

The ARP Executive Committee meets Thursday in the Board room at 9:30 a.m. or immediately following the Board of Directors meeting to discuss: 1) approval of Amendment 4 to the Florida Municipal Power Pool agreement and OUC Control Center services agreement, 2) approval of FMPA’s fiscal 2011 financial audit report, and 3) approval of revisions to the Origination Transaction Risk Management Policy. Annual Report

FMPA’s fiscal 2011 Annual Report is nearing completion, and a draft of the report will be available later this week for review by FMPA’s senior management. The project is on schedule to be distributed in early February. Contact: Mark McCain

Excellence as a Supervisor Deadline

Tuesday is the last day to register for Excellence as a Supervisor training Jan. 31 through Feb. 2 in FMPA’s Board room. The program, offered by Electric Cities of Georgia, includes a total of six, two-day training modules that will be held throughout 2012. Contact: Mike Siefert
