Winter Park Approves Interlocal Agreement

Winter Park City Commissioners approved joining FMPA last Monday and authorized Mayor Kenneth Bradley to sign the Interlocal Agreement. Winter Park established its own municipal utility and began serving customers in June 2005. The city has purchased services from FMPA but was not able to become a member. Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed into law effective July 1 an act related to intergovemental cooperation that includes a provision updating a date in existing law that now allows Winter Park to join the Agency. FMPA’s Board of Directors will discuss approving Winter Park’s membership at its Aug. 30 meeting. Contact: Nick Guarriello

CR3 Participants’ Annual Meeting

The Crystal River Unit 3 participants’ annual meeting will be held Sept. 19 at 10:30 a.m. in the plant’s Emergency Operations Facility, which is located in the plant’s training facility.

 

Lineman’s Roundtable

FMPA’s next semi-annual Lineman’s Roundtable is Oct. 11 at 10 a.m. at the city of Mount Dora. The roundtable provides a forum for lineworkers to exchange ideas on operating practices, safety, training, tools and equipment, and other common issues. Vero Beach Reaches Potential Deal to Exit Wholesale Power Contracts

Vero Beach has found a way to move forward with the sale of its electric system to Florida Power & Light (FPL), the city’s transactional attoey, John Igoe, told the City Council last Thursday. Igoe outlined a tentative deal that would address the wholesale power contracts the city has with Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) and FMPA.
