INDUSTRY NEWS
2013 Hurricane Season Quietest Since 1995
The 2013 Atlantic hurricane season ended last Saturday with no storms impacting any Florida cities. This was the quietest season since 1995 and the first since 1994 that no major hurricanes formed, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Thirteen named storms formed in the Atlantic basin in 2013. Two, Ingrid and Humberto, became hurricanes, the fewest since 1982. NOAA predicted 13 to 20 named storms, including seven to 11 hurricanes, with three to six of those major hurricanes. Researchers will release in May the forecast for the 2014 hurricane season.
