Policy Makers Liaisons Committee

FMPA’s Policy Makers Liaisons Committee met last Thursday during the FMEA-FMPA Annual Conference in Naples and re-elected Bill Polk, Leesburg, as Chair and Michael Perri Jr., Fort Pierce, as Vice Chair. Board of Directors

FMPA’s Board of Directors met last Friday at the Annual Conference and approved: 1) the Board of Directors’ strategic plan action items, 2) power supply project budgets—excluding All-Requirements—and the allocation of the Agency budget for fiscal 2015, and 3) elected Board of Directors officers for 2014-2015 (see story below). ARP Executive Committee

The ARP Executive Committee met last Friday at the Annual Conference and elected Executive Committee officers for 2014-2015 (see story below). The Committee also heard an information item on the status of renewal or replacement of the Letter of Credit on the All-Requirements Project 2008C bonds. Officer Elections

FMPA’s Board of Directors and the ARP Executive Committee elected 2014-2015 officers last Friday during their scheduled meetings. The Board re-elected Bill Conrad, Newberry, as Chairman, Barbara Quiñones, Homestead, as Vice Chairman, Bill Thiess, Fort Pierce, as Treasurer, and Lynne Tejeda, Keys West, as Secretary. The ARP Executive Committee re-elected Howard McKinnon, Town of Havana, as Chairman and Matt Brower, Ocala, as Vice Chairman. Contact: Nick Guarriello

JPP 20th Anniversary

FMPA’s Joint Purchase Project (JPP) celebrates its 20th Anniversary on Monday. On July 21, 1994, the JPP was created to allow municipal utilities to jointly purchase common utility-related goods and services. Benefits of the project have included: 1) simplifying purchasing for member utilities, 2) reducing supply costs, 3) facilitating communication and sharing, and 4) establishing member services at FMPA. Since its creation, the JPP has jointly issued 188 bids for its members. Contact: Sharon Smeenk

 

FMPA.com Redesign Kickoff

The Public Relations and Information Technology departments meet with representatives from BIGEYE, an Orlando-based advertising agency, on Wednesday to kickoff plans for the redesign of FMPA.com. The redesign aims to update the site’s technology, improve site security, improve usability for mobile viewers and refresh the design and content. Plans are to launch the redesigned website during Public Power Week. Contact: Mark McCain

 

Interim Audit

FMPA’s independent auditors, Purvis Gray and Company, will be at FMPA’s Orlando office beginning Monday to conduct the interim audit. The audit helps prepare for FMPA’s annual financial audit, which takes place after the close of the fiscal year. The auditors will review financial information for the Agency and FMPA’s power supply projects. Contact: Rick Minch

OSHA Update for Electric Utilities

Lea about recent changes to electric power standards for general industry and construction during an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) update on July 30 at 9 a.m. at FMPA’s Orlando office. Pam Tompkins with SET Solutions, LLC will discuss recent changes and review the “Big Four topics, including: 1) information sharing/host employers and contractors, 2) fall protection, 3) minimum approach distances, and 4) protection from flames and electric arc hazards. FERC Proposes to Approve Physical Security Reliability Standard
