FMPA Video Wins Local ADDY Award

FMPA’s video titled “The Difference” won an award in the American Advertising Federation’s local ADDY Awards. The awards recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in advertising. In the category Film, Video & Sound | Internet Commercial | Single Spot, FMPA received a Silver ADDY. The video tells the story of how FMPA is the difference in providing low-cost, reliable and clean power for our 31 member cities. The film was directed, filmed and edited by Aqueous Films, a local video company.

 

ARP Executive Committee Rate Workshop

The ARP Executive Committee held a rate workshop last Tuesday to review the January All-Requirements Project loads, costs and rates. While participant energy sales were 7% below budget due to mild weather, ARP rates benefitted from monthly gas costs that were 35% below budget. New City Manager at Starke

The city of Starke welcomes its new city manager, John Holman. John will be taking over for Bob Milner who is retiring on Feb. 28. Thanks to Bob for his years of service to the Agency.

 

Stanton and Indian River Audits

FMPA’s Audit Department performs a year-end audit for the Agency’s ownership interest in Orlando Utilities Commission’s generating units from Feb. 17 to Feb. 28. The audit includes the Stanton Energy Center Units I and II, and Indian River Combustion Turbines A, B, C and D. Contact: Liyuan Woerner

 

Cyber Mutual Assistance

Carter Manucy travels to Phoenix, Arizona from Feb. 18 to Feb. 21 to attend a meeting on the Cyber Mutual Assistance (CMA) Program. The CMA Program provides emergency cyber assistance within the electric power and natural gas industries. Carter is the chair of the Cyber Mutual Assistance Coordinator Committee and a proxy for several FMPA members.

 

FPL Transmission Operations Meeting

Ken Rutter, Chris Gowder, and Peter Moore travel to Miami on Wednesday to meet with Florida Power & Light (FPL) to discuss transmission operations, contractual arrangements, and strategies on topics such as solar.

 

Disclosure Counsel Transition Meeting

Linda Howard and Jody Finklea attend a meeting Friday to help coordinate the transition from Nixon Peabody to Bryant, Miller & Olive, P.A. as the Agency’s new disclosure counsel. In the past, Nixon Peabody served as both the bond and disclosure counsel, and Nixon will remain FMPA’s bond counsel. Contact: Linda Howard
