FMPA’s 42nd Anniversary

At the time, municipal electric utilities were creating joint action agencies to enable individual utilities to provide affordable, reliable and clean electricity for their communities. To learn more about FMPA’s history, read the “Sum of Our Efforts” history booklet and watch videos of FMPA’s early leaders talking about the formation of FMPA.

FPL Settlement Conference
Jason Wolfe, Ann Beckwith and Dan O’Hagan participate in the first settlement conference regarding Florida Power & Light’s (FPL) proposed transmission rate increase on Tuesday via conference call.  FPL filed for the rate increase last August at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), and FERC subsequently named a judge to work with the parties to try to reach a pre-hearing settlement.  The intervenors, which include other wholesale transmission customers of FPL in addition to FMPA, have identified issues with FPL’s filing, including FPL’s desired return on equity of 10.7%.  The parties will address these issues this week, and future settlement conferences will be set as needed.
