MSAC Appointment
FMPA’s Board Chair last week appointed Dan D’Alessandro of Winter Park to serve on FMPA’s Member Services Advisory Committee (MSAC). Dan is taking the place of Bob Milner of Starke who retired Feb. 28. Contact: Mark McCain
SERC Compliance Seminar
Truong Le attends the Southeast Electric Reliability Council’s Spring Compliance on Tuesday and Wednesday in Charlotte, North Carolina. Truong will present on FMPA’s Internal Compliance Program, which supports reliability and ensures internal compliance.
Substation Improvement Project
Mike McCleary travels to Wauchula on Monday to attend the City Commission Workshop. Mike will present on how FMPA can assist the City with the substation improvement project.
Storm Preparation
Mike McCleary travels to Ocala on Wednesday to assist with the planning of a storm preparedness tabletop exercise. Members are encouraged to contact Mike to discuss their storm readiness programs.
ARP Telephonic Rate Workshop
The ARP Executive Committee meets Wednesday at 2 p.m. via conference call to review February’s ARP rate calculation. Contact: Jason Wolfe
Monthly Technology Calls
The Information Technology and Operations Technology teams meet Friday for the monthly technology calls. The purpose of the monthly meetings is to provide cybersecurity support for members. Members interested in attending can contact Luis Cruz.
Florida Lineman Competition
The Florida Municipal Electric Association’s Florida Lineman Competition is Friday and Saturday in Tallahassee. Teams and apprentices from across the Southeast will test their skills and knowledge in the craft of line work. FMPA is a sponsor of the event and will provide the top prize to help pay for the winners to attend a national competition. Jacob Williams will attend the opening ceremony, and Mike McCleary will represent FMPA at the awards banquet.
Power Quality Training
Fort Pierce Utilities Authority hosts a free power quality training class on March 31. The class will be taught by Power Monitors, Inc. The training will include review of PMI’s tools, best practices when conducting studies and use of PMI equipment and software to troubleshoot power quality issues. Participants are recommended to bring their computer and PMI recorders to the session. Interested members can contact Cairo Vanegas for more information.
Lineman’s Roundtable
Mark your calendars: FMPA will host the Lineman’s Roundtable on May 7. The roundtable provides a forum for line crews to exchange ideas on operating practices, safety, training, tools, equipment and more. The forum is open to all levels of line crew personnel as well as any utility staff member. Registration will open this week on FMPA’s website. Contact: Sharon Samuels
