Nominating Committee Recommendations
FMPA’s Nominating Committee issued its recommendations last Wednesday for the Board of Directors officers for 2020-2021. The committee re-nominated Barbara Quiñones of Homestead as Chair, Lynne Tejeda of Key West as Vice Chair, Larry Mattern of Kissimmee as Secretary and Allen Putnam of Jacksonville Beach as Treasurer. The vote will take place July 29 at the Board of Directors meeting at FMPA’s Orlando office. Social distancing guidelines will be followed, and a teleconference option will be available for those who prefer to dial in. Nominations for Board officers also can be accepted from the floor during this meeting. Contact: Jacob Williams

General Fund Transfer Survey
FMPA sent out the General Fund Transfer Survey to members last week. The survey collects data on retail sales, total operating electric revenues and electric fund transfers. Responses are due by Friday. Results will be used to show the value of municipal electric utilities and the benefits that these transfers provide. Contact: Ann Beckwith

Florida Municipal Solar Project Videos
A timeline video highlighting the start of commercial operation for the Florida Municipal Solar Project is available on FMPA’s Facebook and LinkedIn pages. The Public Relations Department also created a short, animated explainer video to communicate the benefits of utility-scale solar. The solar project is a historic moment for FMPA and its members. Members are encouraged to share these videos to help promote the great work that we all are doing to help bring affordable solar energy to Florida’s public power communities.

Mobile Substation Project
Cairo Vanegas travels to New Smyrna Beach on Monday to gather data for the Mobile Substation Project. The mobile substation will serve as a contingency plan in the event of a long-term outage on a substation transformer. Field visits have been completed for three of the eight cities interested in the project including Homestead, Key West and Winter Park. Additional members interested in participating can contact Cairo Vanegas.

Mapping Support
The FMPA team meets with Wauchula on Monday to discuss how FMPA can assist with developing a distribution system map. FMPA has assisted Chattahoochee, Havana, Moore Haven and Williston in creating or updating their system maps. Interested members can contact Cairo Vanegas for more information.

ARP Telephonic Rate Workshop
The ARP Executive Committee meets Tuesday at 2 p.m. via conference call to review June’s ARP rate calculation. Contact: Jason Wolfe

Pole Inspection and Treatment Services Bid
Members interested in participating in a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Provision of Pole Inspection and Treatment Services can still submit their responses to Sharon Samuels. Participation in this bid will offer cost-saving benefits of collaborative bidding. Interested members should submit their responses to Sharon by Wednesday.

Purchasing Roundtable
FMPA hosts a Purchasing Roundtable on Thursday at 10 a.m. via teleconference. The roundtable will provide utility staff members interested in procurement with an opportunity to discuss work procedures, policies, practices and industry changes. St. Lucie Annual Meeting
Rich Popp, David Schumann, Jason Wolfe, Liyuan Woerner, Denise Fuentes and Tobin LaBorde attend the annual St. Lucie meeting on Friday via teleconference. Discussion topics include plant operating performance, future cost projections and more. Contact: David Schumann
