Lake Worth Beach City Commission Supports Electric Utility
Lake Worth Beach City Commission affirmed its support of its electric utility with a 3-2 vote and rejected a motion to explore the process to sell the electric utility on Tuesday. FMPA provided valuable information and assistance to reach this favorable outcome. Contact: Jacob Williams
Environmental Permitting Summer School
Jacob Williams presented at the Environmental Permitting Summer School hosted by the Florida Chamber Foundation last Wednesday. The panelists provided an overview of major federal and state air quality legislation and initiatives, and Jacob shared how Florida electric utilities provide affordable, reliable and clean power to their customers. CISA Tabletop Exercise Package
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) released a COVID-19 Recovery CISA Tabletop Exercise Package (CTEP) last week. CTEP was developed to assist private sector stakeholders and critical infrastructure owners and operators in assessing short-term, intermediate, long-term recovery and business continuity plans related to the pandemic. Interim Audit
FMPA’s independent auditor, Purvis, Gray and Company is conducting an interim audit this week. Most of the audit will take place remotely. The audit is designed to help prepare for FMPA’s annual audit in November. The results will be shared at the Finance Committee meeting in August. Contact: Danyel Sullivan-Marrero
Compliance Data Gathering
Truong Le and Chris Schaeffer travel to Treasure Coast Energy Center on Tuesday for a high-power run of compliance data gathering. The purpose of the visit is to meet a periodic compliance standard of MOD-025. Truong will also provide a refresher compliance training for on-shift plant operators.
Hurricane Tabletop Exercise
Mark McCain and Mike McCleary travel to New Smyrna Beach on Tuesday to assess the preparation, response and restoration plans for a hurricane. During the exercise, utility staff will discuss a storm scenario and individual roles and responsibilities.
Board of Directors
FMPA’s Board of Directors meets Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Board room. The Board will nominate and elect the Board of Directors officers for 2020-2021. Disposal and Recycling RFP
FMPA is developing a request for proposal (RFP) for Disposal and Recycling of Utility Wood Poles, Pallets and Reels (PPR). The RFP will include the FEMA-ready process. The scope of work was sent to members last week to solicit participation. Members interested in this bid opportunity should submit their responses to Sharon Samuels by Wednesday.
GEAR Up Project
Stock Island’s GEAR Up team is working on several projects to enhance reliability for the All-Requirements Project. FMPA and KEYS team members are managing a demineralized water tank refurbishment project, a Step-Up Transformer bushing replacement project, and a bus support addition project. Cane Island team members are also assisting in a battery construction project for Stock Island. FMPA will continue to update members on the progress of these projects. Contact: Ken Rutter
Safety by Design Webinar Series
FMPA hosts a “Safety by Design” webinar series from Aug. 28 to Dec. 4. The series provides safety specific training and best practices. Each session is a one-hour webinar designed to engage participants through polls, questions and online responses. The deadline to register for series one is Aug. 21.
