FMPA Named Top Workplace
FMPA was named by the Orlando Sentinel as one of the Top Workplaces in Central Florida for 2020 last week. The Top Workplaces award recognizes companies that demonstrate a strong commitment to company culture and employee engagement. FMPA ranked ninth of all companies with 35 to 149 employees. The Agency also received a special award in the benefits category. Thank you to the FMPA team for making FMPA a great place to work.

Leesburg Powering Our Community TV Show
Leesburg City Manager Al Minner and FMPA’s Jacob Williams recently sat down with City of Leesburg’s Lake Front TV to discuss the benefits the city’s electric utility provides to its customers and value of FMPA and cities working together. The show aired Sunday at 7 p.m. and will be available for members and FMPA team to view on Lake Front TV this week. Thanks to Leesburg City Commissioner Dan Robuck for moderating the discussion.

Finance Committee

FWELF Facebook Live Interview
Jacob Williams appeared on the Florida’s Women in Energy Leadership Forum’s (FWELF) Facebook Live last Thursday. The interview addressed the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Interested members can watch the podcast on FWELF’s Facebook or YouTube.

Annual Financial Audit
FMPA’s external auditors, Purvis, Gray & Company completed FMPA’s fiscal 2020 audit on Nov. 12 at FMPA’s Orlando Office and found no significant issues. Preliminary results from the audit will be presented at the Finance Committee meeting on Dec. 9 and the final report will be presented at the Board of Directors meeting in January. Monthly Technology Calls
The Information Technology (IT) and Operations Technology (OT) teams meet Wednesday at 10 a.m. for the monthly member call. FMPA team and members will discuss current cybersecurity topics and best practices during the call. Monthly technology calls are available to members on the last Wednesday of every month. Members interested in attending can contact Konrad Lisiewicz.

Thanksgiving Holiday
FMPA’s offices are closed Thursday and Friday in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Have a safe and happy holiday.

Safety by Design
FMPA hosts its sixth “Safety by Design” webinar on Dec. 11 via distant learning. The session, “Confined Spaces,” will define confined spaces and address safe entry procedures that must be maintained. This webinar was originally scheduled for Dec. 4. Members who already registered for the event do not have to register again. Other interested members can register on FMPA’s website.
