ARP Telephonic Rate Workshop
The ARP Executive Committee held a rate workshop last Tuesday to review the November All-Requirements Project loads, costs and rates. Participant costs for November benefited from energy sales that were 5% above budget and monthly gas costs that were 3% below budget. The November average billed demand and energy cost to participants was $64.47 per MWh. The full agenda package is available on the Portal.

Lineworker Safety Program
The Lineworker Safety Training Steering Committee met last Wednesday to review proposed contract terms for the new Lineworker Safety Program. The next step in the approval process is to present the proposed contracts to the Lineworker Safety & Training Subcommittee on Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. FMPA members interested in participating in the new Lineworker Safety Program will be asked to make an initial commitment by the end of January with a final commitment in May 2021 after FMPA’s Board of Directors has approved the program. FMPA Events Calendar
FMPA’s events calendar has been updated for 2021. The meeting calendar includes events such as FMPA meetings, affiliate meetings, workshops, training and roundtables. The calendar will continue to be updated as events are scheduled.

Planned Outages
Cane Island Unit 1, which began its planned outage on Nov. 9, is scheduled to return to service on Wednesday. Contact: David Schumann

Holiday Office Closure
FMPA’s offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday in observance of the Christmas holiday. Have a safe and happy holiday.

APPA Annual Awards
Applications are open for the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) annual awards recognizing excellence in utility leadership and outstanding business, operations, and service by public power utilities. Interested members can visit APPA’s website for more information on the awards. Applications are due Jan. 31, 2021.

DEED TripSavers Webinar
Cairo Vanegas presents on American Public Power Association’s (APPA) Deed Webinar on Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. on the topic of, “Achieving Cost-Effective Reliability Improvements Using Single-Phase Reclosers.” The webinar will share the results FMPA’s TripSavers project highlighting how single-phase reclosers helped reduce outages at three member cities. The project was part of a technology demonstration project coordinated by FMPA, with Havana, Key West and Tallahassee. FMPA was awarded a research grant from the APPA’s Demonstration of Energy and Efficiency Developments (DEED) program. In addition to the grant, the project was funded by FMPA, the three participating cities and S&C Electric Company, the manufacturer of TripSavers.
