Hurricane Season
The 2021 hurricane season started June 1 and runs through Nov. 30. Current predictions estimate 13 to 20 named storms, of which six to 10 could become hurricanes. The forecast includes three to five major hurricanes. FMPA encourages its employees, members and partners to prepare. FMPA’s generating facilities have completed their pre-hurricane preparation checklists for the upcoming storm season. Contact: David Schumann

Finance Committee
FMPA’s Finance Committee met last Thursday and approved the All-Requirements Project fiscal 2022 budget, and fiscal 2023 plan. The full agenda package is available on the Portal. Solar II Joint Committee Meeting
FMPA’s Solar II Project Committee and ARP Solar II Advisory Committee meet Monday at 11 a.m. via Teams. The committees will receive an update on Phase II development, including Whistling Duck Network Upgrades. Contact: Susan Schumann

Reliability Support
Alan O’Heron travels to Homestead on Monday to help the city develop a new interconnection to Florida Power & Light to help enhance the city’s reliability. Contact: Carl Turner

Board of Directors

Safety Compliance Workshop
FMPA’s Safety Compliance for Electric Utilities Distance Learning Series is on July 23 at 1 p.m. via teleconference. This session will define employer requirements for minimum approach distances (MAD) for electric power operations. The following class is scheduled for Aug. 20 and will focus on Electric Power Flames and Electric Arcs. Registration is available on FMPA’s website. Contact: Sharon Samuels
