Residential Utility Bill Assistance
OUR Florida is accepting applications from residents and businesses to provide financial assistance for unpaid rent and utility bills. The federally-funded emergency rental assistance program pays landlords and utility companies directly on behalf of eligible customers. OUR Florida contacted FMPA to help promote the program among Florida’s municipal electric utilities for the assistance that is available. Contact: Mark McCain
Pooled Loan Program
FMPA and the City of Homestead closed on an $8 million loan last Wednesday through the Agency’s Pooled Loan Project. The project enables members to borrow money for utility projects in a cost-effective way. Interested members should contact Linda Howard for more information.
Value of Municipal Utility
Jacob Williams is attending the Kissimmee Utility Authority Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday and will present on the value that KUA provides its customers. FMPA has provided similar presentations for many of its members. Contact Susan Schumann if you are interested in a presentation for your governing board or a local organization.
Rental and Leasing of Heavy Equipment RFP
FMPA plans to issue a request for proposals (RFP) for the rental and leasing of heavy equipment and other related products and services. The scope will include items such as pullers/tensioners, digger derricks, trenchers, boom lifts, etc. The RFP will also include the FEMA-ready process. FMPA members that plan to apply for FEMA reimbursement for these services are encouraged to be listed as a participant on the RFP. Interested members should contact Sharon Samuels by Thursday.
Safety Compliance Workshop
The next class in FMPA’s Safety Compliance for Electric Utilities Distance Learning Series is scheduled for July 23 at 1 p.m. via teleconference. The session will define requirements for minimum approach distances for electric power operations. Registration is available on FMPA’s website. Contact: Sharon Samuels
