Annual Financial Audit
FMPA’s external auditors, Purvis Gray completed FMPA’s fiscal 2021 audit last Thursday at FMPA’s Orlando Office and found no significant issues. Preliminary results from the audit will be presented to the Finance Committee in December, and the final report will be presented at the Board of Directors meeting in January. Welcome, Israel Reyes
Please welcome Israel Reyes, who joins FMPA as the new Electrical Power Management Engineer. In this role, Israel will work with power plant staff to support projects and regular maintenance and operations of the electrical equipment at the plants. Israel has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Puerto Rico and more than 10 years of experience, including time at the United States Bureau of Reclamation. Israel will report to Angel Rivera-Lopez.

ARP Telephonic Rate Workshop
The ARP Executive Committee meets Tuesday at 2 p.m. via conference call to review October’s ARP rate calculation. The full agenda package will be posted to the Portal prior to the meeting. Contact: Jason Wolfe

Battery Storage Facility Tour
Navid Nowakhtar and Ken Rutter are touring Florida Power and Light’s battery storage facility at the Lauderdale Power Plant on Tuesday. The tour will offer FMPA staff and members an opportunity to see an operational battery storage facility and understand the size and scale, maintenance requirements and potential impacts.

Newberry Town Hall Meeting
Jacob Williams is attending a town hall meeting in Newberry on Tuesday to present on the value of the local utility and how FMPA and its members are working together to meet customers’ expectations. Contact Susan Schumann if you are interested in a similar presentation for your city.

Board of Directors
FMPA’s Board of Directors meets Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Board room. The Board will consider two action items, including the approval of management goals for fiscal 2022 and the DataSite Orlando contract renewal. The full agenda package is available on the Portal. Contact: Jacob Williams

ARP Executive Committee
The Executive Committee meets Thursday at 9:15 a.m., or immediately following the Board of Directors meeting. The committee will hear seven information items, including: 1) winter capacity situation and winterization efforts, 2) update on Stock Island environmental issue, 3) upgrade and asset capacity alternatives, 4) demand management Phase I survey results, 5) solar Phase III discussion, 6) Transco pipeline capacity release to Lakeland, and 7) insurance broker selection. Wire and Cable Bid
FMPA is preparing to issue a bid for wire and cable. The bid will include the FEMA-ready process and offer cost and time-saving benefits associated with the administrative process for utilities. Participating Joint Purchase Project members registered with AURSI should log in to AURSI and input their quantities. Other interested members should contact Sharon Samuels by Friday.

Substation Roundtable
Beaches Energy Services will host a Substation Roundtable on Dec. 2–3 in the Jacksonville Beach City Council Chamber. The roundtable is an opportunity for FMPA members to discuss a variety of substation, relay and compliance topics. Members interested in attending the free event should contact Matt Campbell at Beaches or Alan O’Heron at FMPA.
