TECO Power Purchase Begins
Tampa Electric (TECO) will purchase wholesale power from FMPA in January and February, enabling the Agency to sell excess capacity and reduce costs for All-Requirements Project participants. The power purchase agreement was finalized in November and is effective Jan. 1. Contact: Chris Gowder
Stanton Unit II Refinancing
The deadline for financial institutions to submit proposals for the refinancing of Stanton Unit II Series 2012 bonds is Jan. 19. FMPA’s Finance Department will review the responses to the request for proposals and provide a recommendation during the Board of Directors meeting on Feb. 17. Contact: Rich Popp
Organizational Changes
Several FMPA staff have accepted new roles that are effective Jan. 3. Sharon Adams has been named Chief People and Member Services Officer and will oversee the Human Resources and Member Services departments. Mike McCleary is the new Member Services Manager and will manage the day-to-day activities and projects. Maria Veiga is Human Resources and Administrative Services Manager and will manage human resources functions and administrative services. Susan Schumann will continue in her role as Public Relations and External Affairs Manager and assume responsibility for FMPA’s Policy Makers Liaisons Committee and government relations. Join us in congratulating Sharon, Mike, Maria and Susan.
APPA Safety Awards of Excellence
Applications for American Public Power Association’s (APPA) Safety Awards of Excellence are now open. The annual awards emphasize the importance of safe working habits and recognize utilities that achieve safe operations. Applications are due Jan. 31. More information is available on APPA’s website.
