Annual American Association of Blacks in Energy Conference
Linda Howard and LaKenya VanNorman attended the American Association of Blacks in Energy’s National Conference last week in Tampa. The conference theme was “Building Our Energy Future: Are you Ready?” and included sessions on energy policy and regulations, emerging technologies, and environmental issues.

Efforts to Manage Natural Gas Needs and Prices
Energy prices continue to rise, with natural gas prices now at $8 per MMBtu. FMPA staff meet with representatives from Florida Gas Utility (FGU) on Tuesday to discuss strategic natural gas related items, review coordination efforts and introduce new members of the respective teams. FGU manages FMPA’s natural gas procurement activities and provides a wide range of services to help meet members’ energy needs. Contact: Chris Gowder

ARP Rate Workshop
The All-Requirements Project meets on Wednesday at 2 p.m. via conference call to review project loads, costs and rates for April. The full agenda package will be posted to the Portal prior to the meeting. Contact: Jason Wolfe

MSAC Meeting
FMPA’s Member Services Advisory Committee meets Wednesday at 11 a.m. at FMPA’s Orlando office. The committee will consider two action items, including: 1) approval of committee charter, and 2) approval to explore a potential IT support subscription service for members. The committee will also hear six information items. A teleconference option will be available for those unable to attend in person. The full agenda package is available on the Portal. Purchasing Roundtable
FMPA hosts a Purchasing Roundtable on Thursday at 10 a.m. at FMPA’s Orlando office. The roundtable provides a forum for members to discuss purchasing work procedures, policies and practices, industry changes and more. Contact: Sharon Samuels

Electrical Metering Program Lab
Registration is now open for the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association’s (TVPPA) Electrical Metering Program Lab. Members interested in attending the five-day hands-on lab are encouraged to register by July 29. The lab will take place on Aug. 8–12 at FMPA’s Orlando office and provide training on instrument transformers, meter connections, meter constants, meter testing, meter reading and more. The lab can be taken as part of the Electrical Metering Certification Program. Contact: Sharon Samuels
