Fiscal 2022 Interim Audit
FMPA’s independent external auditor, Purvis, Gray and Company, were at FMPA’s Orlando office last week to conduct an interim audit for fiscal 2022. The interim audit helps staff prepare for FMPA’s annual financial audit, which will be done after the close of the fiscal year. The auditors reviewed financial information for the Agency and FMPA’s power supply projects. Contact: Danyel Sullivan-Marrero

Welcome, Jason Wailgum
Please welcome Jason Wailgum, who joins FMPA on Monday as a Power Generation Engineer II. Jason has more than 17 years of experience in the electric utility industry and will support FMPA’s power plants, including managing maintenance and outage projects. He has a master’s degree and bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

TCEC Plant Appreciation
Members of FMPA’s power generation team are attending an appreciation lunch for the Treasure Coast Energy Center staff on Wednesday. The event is to celebrate the power plant’s operating performance in fiscal 2021.

Executive Committee
FMPA’s Executive Committee meets on Friday at 9:30 a.m. via Microsoft Teams for a special-called meeting to discuss natural gas prices and potential adjustments to the All-Requirements Project’s natural gas price risk management strategy. Contact: Jacob Williams

General Fund Transfer Survey
The deadline to participate in FMPA’s annual survey of utility fund transfers has been extended to Friday. As of June 22, only half of FMPA’s members have responded. The goal is to obtain data from each of the 31 member cities. The survey includes eight questions and collects data on retail sales, total operating electric revenues and electric fund transfers. Results will be used to show the value of municipal electric utilities and the benefits that these transfers provide. Contact: Ryan Dumas

Electrical Metering Program
Friday is the deadline to register for Tennessee Valley Public Power Association’s (TVPPA) Electrical Metering Program Lab on Aug. 15-19 at Orlando Utilities Commission. The five-day, hands-on lab provides training on instrument transformers, meter connections, meter constants, meter testing, meter reading and more. Contact: Sharon Samuels

Public Relations Support
FMPA’s Public Relations Department is supporting several members with projects to communicate with customers. The team is producing testimonial videos for Newberry to highlight its new advanced metering infrastructure and the benefits for customers. Clewiston will deploy smart meters in 2023, so FMPA helped the city develop a communication plan and is managing the creation of various communication tools. Several utilities are celebrating anniversaries that FMPA will help plan events or develop tools to commemorate the occasion, and the team has provided many members with materials on high energy costs and ways customers can manage their bill. The public relations team is available to support all members with a variety of communication needs. Contact Susan Schumann if your city or utility would like public relations support.
