FMPA Wins Statewide Public Relations Awards
FMPA recently won two awards at the 2022 Golden Image Awards, an annual statewide competition sponsored by the Florida Public Relations Association. The competition recognizes companies and organizations which exhibit and employ comprehensive public relations projects that meet the highest standards of excellence in four components of public relations programming: research, planning, implementation and evaluation. In the institutional video category, FMPA received an Award of Distinction for its 2021 State of the Agency video, “Together We Can.” In the annual report category, FMPA received an Award of Distinction for its 2020 annual report, “70-60-50 – Together We Can.”

 

Supply Chain Constraint Efforts Webinar
The American Public Power Association (APPA) hosts a webinar on Monday at 1 p.m. to discuss efforts to support public power utilities facing supply chain constraints on critical equipment. The briefing is open to APPA utility members, state and regional associations, joint action agencies, and federal members. Registration information is available on APPA’s website.

 

Power Quality Investigation Workshop
Tuesday is the deadline to register for the Power Quality Investigation Workshop on Sept. 8 at FMPA’s Orlando office. The workshop will provide an overview of power quality issues encountered by utilities and strategies for analysis and mitigation. Utility Finance Roundtable
FMPA hosts a Utility Finance Roundtable on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at its Orlando office. Co-hosted with the Florida Municipal Electric Association, the roundtable provides a forum for participants to discuss finance-related topics and exchange information on best practices, policies, procedures, legal considerations and more.

 

Mass Communication Services Agreement
FMPA awarded a joint bid for mass communication services to Genasys, Inc. The scope includes support with emergency and storm-related notifications, planned outage communications, messages to city personnel, and more. FMPA will host an introductory meeting with the vendor for participants to discuss service offerings and next steps. More details will be available soon. Contact: Sharon Samuels

 

Electric Metering Lab
The electric metering lab was held earlier this month at Orlando Utilities Commission. Facilitated by certified training specialists from the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association, participants from five utilities received training on instrument transformers, meter connections, meter constraints, meter testing, meter reading and more. FMPA will host the training again in 2023. Contact: Sharon Samuels

 

Labor Day
