Switching and Tagging Training
FMPA supported New Smyrna Beach Utilities earlier this month with a training to help its line crews understand the utility’s switching and tagging program. The training was tailored to the utility’s policies and was well received by participants. Contact Mike McCleary if you are interested in hosting a similar training for your utility.
Policy Makers Liaisons Committee
FMPA’s Policy Makers Liaisons Committee met last Wednesday. During the meeting, Power Hungry podcast host Robert Bryce discussed the future of the electric grid and the interconnection of renewable energy. Finance Committee
FMPA’s Finance Committee met last Wednesday and approved three action items, including: 1) a budget amendment for the Pooled Loan Project, 2) the fiscal 2022 audit report and financial statements, and 3) recommended changes to the Debt Risk Management Policy. Executive Committee
FMPA’s Executive Committee met last Thursday and approved the fiscal 2022 audit report and financial statements. The committee also agreed to allow FMPA staff to secure additional prepaid natural gas at a discount of 55 cents or more per Metric Million British Thermal Unit. Regional Crew Leader Roundtables
FMPA hosts a crew leader roundtable in Quincy on Tuesday and a roundtable in Williston on Wednesday. Additional roundtables will be held in Bartow, Homestead and Mount Dora on Feb. 21-23. The roundtables are designed for foremen and crew leaders to discuss common issues and best practices. Registration is available on FMPA’s website.
Understanding Wholesale Power Costs
FMPA’s Member Services Department meets with staff at the City of Quincy on Monday to discuss how wholesale power costs are broken down in customers’ monthly utility bills. On Thursday, Jacob Williams will be in Bushnell to meet with residents of Paradise Oaks RV Resort to help customers understand FMPA’s role as the city’s wholesale power provider and the impacts of higher natural gas prices.
