FMPA Organizational Changes
FMPA announced several organizational changes last Friday to enhance its operational effectiveness. Chris Gowder has been promoted to Vice President of Information Technology/Operational Technology and System Operations to support the IT, OT, cybersecurity and systems operations. Additional organizational changes are being made to provide growth opportunities and add strength in other areas.

Radio Frequency Training
FMPA recently supported Leesburg’s electric utility with a radio frequency training to help lineworkers understand how radio-controlled reclosers and capacitor banks operate. The training was well received and provided opportunities to test equipment and hardware and fix radio communication issues. Similar trainings in radio frequency and fiberoptic work are available to all member utilities. Contact Juan Bailey for more information.

Regional Crew Leader Roundtables
FMPA hosted two crew leader roundtables last week in Quincy and Williston. Both were well received by participants. Additional roundtables will be held in Bartow, Homestead and Mount Dora on Feb. 21-23. The roundtables are designed for foremen and crew leaders to discuss common issues and best practices. Registration is available on FMPA’s website.

Executive Committee
The ARP Executive Committee meets on Thursday at 10 a.m. via Microsoft Teams for a special-called meeting to discuss natural gas price stability opportunities and additional prepaid contracts. The full agenda package will be available prior to the meeting. Contact: Jacob Williams

Cold Weather Preparedness Roundtable
FMPA hosts a Cold Weather Preparedness Roundtable for NERC-registered generator owners and operators on Thursday via Microsoft Teams. The purpose of the roundtable it to share approaches and ideas on cold weather preparedness at power plants. A calendar invitation was emailed to applicable registered compliance and subject matter experts. Contact: LaKenya VanNorman

Florida Lineman Competition
Friday is the deadline for competitors and sponsors to register for the Florida Lineman Competition scheduled for March 3-4 in Orlando. Hosted by the Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA), the competition is an opportunity for public power lineworkers from across the state to demonstrate their skills and knowledge of the craft. Registration is available on FMEA’s website. Spectators are also encouraged to attend the competition.

Foreman Academy Certification Series
FMPA hosts the first track of the three-part Foreman Academy Certification series on March 20-23 at its Orlando office. The Foreman Academy Certification provides crew leaders and general foremen with the knowledge and tools to lead crews efficiently, responsibly and safely. The deadline to register is March 10.
