Florida House Energy Subcommittee Presentation
Jody Finklea attended the Florida House Energy, Communications and Cybersecurity Subcommittee meeting last Thursday and presented on the value of municipal electric utilities. Discussion topics included local governing jurisdictions and regulation by the Florida Public Service Commission. The presentation is available on The Florida Channel and begins at the 2:37 mark of the meeting.

2022 Annual Report
FMPA’s 2022 annual report titled “Powering On” is at the printer and will be mailed this week to members of FMPA’s governing boards and member committees, local elected officials, industry partners, and other interested parties. This year’s book features a local-elected official and customer from Clewiston discussing higher costs and focuses on FMPA’s efforts to keep electricity affordable and reliable for its members and their customers.

Regional Crew Leader Roundtables
FMPA hosts a crew leader roundtable in Bartow on Tuesday, a roundtable in Mount Dora on Wednesday and a roundtable in Homestead on Thursday. The roundtables are designed for foremen and crew leaders to discuss common issues and best practices. Contact: Sharon Samuels

ARP Rate Workshop
The All-Requirements Project meets on Tuesday at 2 p.m. via Microsoft Teams to review project loads, costs and rates for January. The agenda package for the ARP Rate Workshop will be available on the Portal prior to the meeting. Contact: Jason Wolfe

FMPA Strategic Planning Session
FMPA’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee meet on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at FMPA’s Orlando office for a strategic planning session. During the session, members will identify strategic priorities for the next several years. Members are encouraged to participate in person for a full, interactive experience. Board of Directors
FMPA’s Board of Directors meets on Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Board room to consider three action items, including: 1) approval of distribution of funds from the termination of the Poinsett Solar Energy Center, 2) approval of changes to the Debt Risk Management Policy, and 3) approval of financial advisor contracts with PFM and Dunlap & Associates. Executive Committee
FMPA’s Executive Committee meets on Thursday immediately following the Board of Directors to consider four action items, including: 1) approval of reimbursement to OUC for expenses related to the Harmony Solar Energy Center interconnection, 2) approval of distribution of funds from the termination of the Poinsett Solar Energy Center, 3) approval of recommended changes to the Debt Risk Management Policy, and 4) approval of financial advisor contracts with PFM and Dunlap & Associates. APPA Legislative Rally
Members attending the APPA Legislative Rally on Feb. 27–March 1 in Washington, D.C., are encouraged to participate in a free webinar on Friday to discuss the Rally schedule and federal legislative issues that we will discuss while meeting with Congress members and staff. Discussion topics will include tax, infrastructure, supply chain issues and more. Contact: Ryan Dumas

Physical Security Workshop
Registration is now open for FMPA’s Hometown Security Workshop on March 30. Representatives from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and more will present on physical security best practices and awareness using recent substation attacks as a backdrop for discussion. The workshop will provide participants opportunities to share experiences and discuss considerations for their own service territories. Space is limited, so register as soon as possible.
