Moody’s Visits FMPA and Cane Island

Representative from Moody’s Investors Service will be at FMPA’s Orlando office on Monday to meet with members of the leadership team and staff to discuss the Agency’s strategic priorities, upcoming asset purchases, and more. After the meeting, the group will tour Cane Island Power Park. Contact: Linda Howard

Clewiston AMI Project

Clewiston is hosting an AMI day on Monday at 4 p.m. at City Hall before the City Commission’s monthly meeting. The purpose of the event is to show customers what they can expect from the new Advanced Metering Infrastructure. The utility is upgrading the electric and water systems and soon will deploy new meters through its service territory. The AMI Day is an opportunity to show customers how they will have more control over their monthly utility bill. Representatives from the city and AMI supplier will be on hand to answer questions and provide demonstrations of the new systems. FMPA’s Public Relations Department has been supporting Clewiston with communications during the deployment.

Florida Public Power Communications Spring Roundtable

The Florida Municipal Electric Association hosts a Communications Roundtable on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. at the Renaissance Orlando Airport Hotel. The purpose of the roundtable is for Florida public power utility and municipal communicators to discuss topics and issues impacting their community and the industry. Hurricane Response Exercise and Storm Preparedness Forum

The Florida Municipal Electric Association is hosting a statewide mutual aid and storm response tabletop exercise on May 17 at the Renaissance Orlando Airport Hotel. The full-day exercise will feature facilitated, in-depth discussions of emergency preparedness and response issues including roles and responsibilities, communication and coordination with state, local and federal government, and mutual aid scenarios. The exercise is part of the Hurricane and Storm Preparedness Forum on May 18. Registration is available on FMEA’s website .

Finance Committee

FMPA’s Finance Committee meets on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Board room to consider the approval of the fiscal 2024 Agency budget for recommendation to the Executive Committee for final approval. The Committee will also hear two information items, including: 1) review and discussion of the proposed fiscal 2024 Agency allocation, and 2) All-Requirements Project working capital deposits. Board of Directors

FMPA’s Board of Directors meets on Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Board room to consider the approval of Phase III of the Florida Municipal Solar Project. The Board will also hear an information item on Finance Committee updates. The  agenda package  is available on the Portal. Contact: Jacob Williams

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee meets on Thursday immediately following the Board of Directors to consider three action items, including: 1) approval of Phase III of the Florida Municipal Solar Project, 2) approval of the fiscal 2024 Agency budget, and 3) approval of FMPA appointments to Public Gas Partners’ Operating Committee.
