Proposed EPA GHG Rules
FMPA joined the Florida Reliability Coordinating Council (FRCC) in filing comments about Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)’s proposed greenhouse gas (GHG) rule for electric utilities. The proposed rule would likely compromise electricity reliability in Florida and raise the cost of power. FMPA is urging EPA to consult with federal agencies, like the Department of Energy (DOE), the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) to reconsider the unique potential effects of these rules for Florida specifically. Record Summer Peak
FRCC set a summer record peak on Thursday, July 20, for customer load served by FRCC entities. The instantaneous peak load was 50,545 megawatts (MW) at 16:45, the integrated hourly load was 50,299 MWs for HE17 and there were no significant reliability issues for the FRCC bulk electric system. The previous FRCC summer record was 49,979 MW on Sept. 6, 2022.
