EPA Proposed Rules

PSC Internal Affairs Meeting
Jacob Williams, Navid Nowakhtar and Susan Schumann attended the State of Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) internal affairs meeting last Tuesday in Tallahassee. They discussed EPA’s proposed GHG rule. Jacob spoke on behalf of the FRCC as its chair, and Navid spoke on behalf of FMPA. Contact: Susan Schumann

Stock Island Appreciation Lunch
Jacob Williams, Ken Rutter and other FMPA staff will attend an appreciation lunch for plant staff at the Stock Island Generating Facility on Wednesday, Aug. 9. The event is to celebrate the plant’s operating performance in fiscal 2022.

Electrical Metering – Lab B
Registration is open for Electric Metering – Lab B, hosted by Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC). The hands-on training is Aug. 28-Sept. 1, and participants may attend independently or as part of the TVPPA Electrical Metering Certification Program. Deadline to register is Aug. 14. General Fund Transfer Survey
Sue Utley distributed FMPA’s annual Grand Fund Transfer Survey last week. We use this survey to assess Agency members’ utility fund transfers and demonstrate the value that municipal electric utilities and these transfers provide. Please complete by Aug. 25. Contact: Mary Kathryn Patterson

Relay and Protection Training
Registration is open for Relay and Protection training, hosted by Lakeland Electric. The training, hosted by TVPPA instructors, is designed for substation technicians and engineers who work with protective relays in substations and distribution systems. Training will be Sept. 18-22 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Deadline to register is Sept. 8. Contact: Mike McCleary
