Top Workplace 2023
Orlando Sentinel recognized FMPA as a Top Workplace in Central Florida for 2023. The Sentinel determines recipients based on anonymous employee feedback regarding company culture and engagement. This is the fourth consecutive year FMPA earned this distinction.
FERC Winter Storm Elliott Report
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) staff and staff of the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) presented to FERC the final report on Winter Storm Elliott, the Christmas 2022 winter storm that contributed to power outages for millions of electricity customers in the Eastern half of the United States. The report outlines 11 recommendations for action to assist with preventing similar incidences during future extreme winter weather. The recommendations include cold weather reliability improvements for power generators, natural gas infrastructure, gas-electric coordination and electric grid operations. FMPA Responds to NERC Level 3 Alert
FMPA recently responded to a North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) issued Level 3 alert for the electric utility industry regarding essential actions to industry cold weather preparations for extreme weather events. This is part III of the extreme cold weather alerts issued by NERC. The alert includes eight essential actions, as well as a series of questions, that are intended to evaluate the Bulk Electric System’s winter readiness and progress toward mitigating risk for winter 2023-2024 and beyond. New Headshots
FMPA will have a photographer on site at the Oct. 19 board of directors meeting. She will be present to take new headshots of all board members as well as FMPA leadership and staff. Contact: Emily Maag
Foreman Academy Certification
FMPA hosted Foreman Academy Certification – Track 3 training last week. Six participants from five member cities attended the program. Check FMPA’s events page to learn about similar training opportunities in the future.
FMPA Training Calendar
FMPA is planning the training calendar for the 2024 calendar year. We are conducting a survey to get member input on where to place our focus. Your input will help guide us to meet as many needs as possible. We welcome multiple inputs from the same utility, so please forward as you see fit. Contact: Mike McCleary
FMPA Cybersecurity Event
FMPA’s IT department is planning a cybersecurity event on Oct. 23 from noon to 2 p.m. for FMPA staff members. The event can be broadcast live for other interested member cities. Cities who would like to participate in watching the event can email Wayne Koback.
