PURPA Deadline Reminder
The deadline for applicable utilities’ completion of two new “shall consider” Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act (PURPA) standards is Nov. 15. PURPA applies to all electric utilities with over 500,000 MWh annual retail sales during the 2020 baseline year. The two new standards for consideration include “Demand Response and Demand Flexibility” and “Electric Vehicle Charging Programs.” While your utility is under no obligation to adopt either of these standards, if you are PURPA jurisdictional, you must “consider” them during a public hearing and make a written determination on whether to adopt them. If you need any assistance or have questions, please reach out to Dan O’Hagan or Jody Finklea.
