Celebrating Calvin Henze
FMPA would like to recognize Calvin Henze, the Agency’s first general manager, who will celebrate his 100th birthday Sunday. Mr. Henze served as the Agency’s general manager from its inception in 1978 until his retirement in 1991, and highlights from his tenure include the Agency’s first power supply project with St. Lucie Unit 2 in 1982 and the establishment of the ARP in 1986. Mr. Henze also advocated for public power on a national level, serving APPA president and chair of the APPA accounting and finance section. He received the APPA’s highest award – the Alex Radin Distinguished Service Award – in 1990. We are grateful for the legacy Mr. Henze was instrumental in establishing.
