2024 APPA Legislative Rally
The 2024 APPA Legislative Rally kicks off today in Washington, D.C. The event, which runs through Wednesday, provides public power utility representatives with an opportunity to meet with members of Congress and their staff to discuss various issues.

OSHA 30 Hour Card Training – Part 1
The deadline to register for the OSHA 30 Hour Card Training – Part 1 session on March 5 and 6 is Wednesday. The training course, which is provided by TVPPA, is the first course required for earning the Certified Safety Coordinator (CSC) designation. Contact: Lindsay Jack

Florida Lineman Competition
Lineworkers from Florida’s public power utilities and electric cooperatives competed in the annual Florida Lineman Competition last Saturday in Jacksonville. FMEA and JEA cohosted the event, and FMPA was a sponsor of the event and provided the top prize to help pay for the winners to attend a national competition. Participants included 79 journeymen on 23 journeyman teams, 75 apprentices and 64 judges from 15 utilities. Congratulations to Matthew Brown, Tyler Homan and Hank Pearson from Ocala Electric Utility, who won the Overall Journeyman Team Winners Cup. Dustin Zorn from Lakeland Electric won the Overall Apprentice Award.

FMPA Celebrates 46 Years
Last Saturday marked FMPA’s 46th anniversary. The Agency’s first meeting was Feb. 24, 1978, as municipal electric utilities began creating joint action agencies to support individual utilities in providing affordable, reliable and clean electricity for communities. Meridian Training
Training about Meridian drawing database software kicks off this week for Cane Island personnel. Treasure Coast and Stock Island will also complete the four-day training, with all training scheduled to be completed by March 22. Meridian is a software program specifically designed for managing engineering documents and drawings. It provides a central repository for storing and organizing all types of engineering data, including drawings, models, specifications and other related documents.

2024 Hotel Accommodations Near FMPA
FMPA recently updated its list of hotel accommodations near its Orlando office. The list, which is available under the General Information section of the Portal, includes rate information for the year. Contact: Lindsay Jack

Refurbish, Repair, & Disposal of Transformers Bid
FMPA’s Joint Purchase Project is preparing to issue a new refurbish, repair and disposal of transformers bid.  This is a collaborative initiative to help us acquire better pricing and value-added services.  The initial term will be for three years with two one-year extensions. If you’re interested in participating in this bid, please contact Sharon Samuels.

Utility Debris Removal Bid
FMPA’s Joint Purchase Project is preparing to issue a new utility debris removal bid. This is a collaborative initiative to help us acquire better pricing and value-added services.  The initial term will be for three years with two one-year extensions, and the bid will comply with FEMA requirements. If you’re interested in participating in this bid, please contact Sharon Samuels.

Joint Purchase Project Bids
FMPA’s Joint Purchase Project is preparing to issue a new single phase padmount transformers bid and a new overhead transformers bid. These collaborative initiatives help to acquire better pricing and value-added services on these units. The initial term will be for 5 years with one-year extensions, and these bids will comply with the FEMA requirements.
