Hurricane Milton
FMPA is closely monitoring Hurricane Milton, which is currently a Category 4 storm anticipated to make landfall on Florida’s west coast near Tampa Wednesday. The current path predicts the storm traveling across Central Florida, likely impacting the FMPA office and multiple Member cities. The Agency team is following the storm for these potential effects, and team members are available to assist with needs outside of mutual aid services.

Interpersonal Supervisory Skills II Training Postponed
The Interpersonal Supervisory Skills II training scheduled for today and tomorrow has been postponed in anticipation of Hurricane Milton. A new date will be shared as soon as it’s available. Contact: Lindsay Jack

Trinity Catholic High School Visit
FMPA, in collaboration with Mount Dora and Kissimmee Utility Authority, hosted a tour for applied engineering students from Trinity Catholic High School in Ocala. Joined by a representative from Ocala Electric Utility, the students visited the Mount Dora Community Solar Farm and Cane Island Power Park. Public Power Week
Public Power Week kicked off yesterday. The annual nationwide event allows public power utilities across the country to help customers and stakeholders understand public power, how to engage with the utility, and the benefits it offers.

Rice Creek Ribbon-Cutting Event

FMPA Cybersecurity Event
FMPA’s IT department is planning a cybersecurity event on October 28 from 11:30 to 2 p.m. for FMPA staff members. Agent Crenshaw from the FBI Cyber Team will speak. The event can be broadcast live for other interested Member cities. Members who would like to participate in watching the event can email Wayne Koback.
