TOP NEWS

Hurricane Milton
Hurricane Milton made landfall late Wednesday evening near Siesta Key as a dangerous Category 3 storm with sustained 120 mph winds. Milton moved east across Central Florida, weakening to a Category 1 while traveling inland and leaving more than 3 million Florida residents without power. The FMPA office was unaffected, and Sand Lake Energy Center and Mulberry Energy sustained very minor damage. FMEA activated its mutual aid network prior to the storm, allowing crews to begin restoration efforts as soon as it was safe. FMEA reported that crews have restored power to 99% of customers served by municipal electric utilities, and FMPA is continually available to assist Member cities as needed.
