Rice Creek Solar Energy Center
Origis Energy officially declared commercial operations on the Rice Creek Solar Energy Center last Monday. The facility, which is the third solar site in the Florida Municipal Solar Project, will provide nearly 75 MWac of carbon-free electricity to a dozen Florida communities.
PMLC Guest Speaker
The Policy Makers Liaisons Committee will host Travis Fisher, director of energy and environmental policy studies at the Cato Institute, and its meeting next week. Fisher will present via Teams about energy and environment expectations with the upcoming new administration. The PMLC meets next Wednesday at 12:30 p.m., and all are welcome to attend. The FMPA team is diligently preparing for the anticipated cold weather across Florida this week, ensuring our plants are ready to address potential impacts and sales opportunities. 2025 Events Calendar
The FMPA events calendar is up to date with meetings, roundtables, and training opportunities scheduled throughout 2025. This includes a variety of training sessions rescheduled or postponed from 2024.
2025 Hotel Accommodations
As a reminder, Universal Orlando has scheduled its Epic Universe theme park near the FMPA office to open in May. We recommend reserving hotel accommodations for FMPA business in Orlando early to avoid higher fees or difficulty securing a room. The 2025 list of hotel accommodations near FMPA is available via the Portal.
