ARP Executive Committee

Board of Directors
The Board of Directors met last Tuesday and approved a service confirmation for the FMPA-ECG Alliance Agreement related to the Safety Training program. Concurrent Board of Directors and Executive Committee Workshop
The Board of Directors and the ARP Executive Committee held a special-called concurrent telephonic workshop last Tuesday to discuss a general approach for responding to the Preliminary and Tentative findings of the Auditor General’s report. Cane Island Power Park
Cane Island Unit 4 is offline for a maintenance outage to repair the compressor section of the gas turbine. Unit 4 is scheduled to come back online Feb. 20. Contact: David Schumann

ARP Telephonic Rate Workshop
The ARP Executive Committee meets Monday at 2 p.m. via conference call for the monthly All-Requirements Project rate workshop. The agenda includes: 1) an update on natural gas markets and liquidity, 2) an overview of January operations, loads, costs and rate calculations, and 3) estimated rates for February through April. Member City Visits
Bud Boudreaux travels to Williston on Tuesday for a member city visit with City Manager Scott Lippmann. Bud and Fred Bryant travel to Bushnell on Wednesday for a member city visit with Mayor Bil Spaude and City Manager Bruce Hickle.
2014 Annual Report
FMPA’s fiscal 2014 Annual Report will be printed Tuesday. The report, titled “Mind + Metal + Mission will be distributed to members, staff and business associates later this month. Contact: Mark McCain

COMING UP
Public Records Request Webinar
The Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA) will host a webinar on Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. to discuss Florida’s Public Records Law and how to respond to public records requests. FMPA Associate General Counsel Dan O’Hagan will provide examples of how people have exploited the law by making a request and then filing a lawsuit if city staff fail to comply. Dan will provide recommendations for developing response policies and employee training. Distribution Reliability Roundtable
FMPA will host a Distribution Reliability Roundtable on March 26 at 10 a.m. at FMPA’s Orlando office. The roundtable provides a forum for participants to discuss topics including: reporting process, definitions and interpretations, best practices and more. Duke Requests PSC Approval to Buy Aubudale Plant
Duke Energy Florida filed a request with the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) seeking approval to purchase a Polk County power plant owned by a subsidiary of Calpine Corp. Duke announced its plan last August and filed documents Jan. 30. Duke said it will need the additional capacity because it projects load growth through 2017 and beyond. In addition to PSC approval, the deal must be approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice. Duke offered an alteative plan to build a new power plant in Suwannee County if the Calpine deal is not approved.
