Audit and Risk Oversight Committee
The Audit and Risk Oversight Committee meets Thursday at 8:30 a.m. in the Board room to discuss the approval of regulatory assets and liabilities. The Committee will also discuss information items, including: 1) fuels market update, 2) annual Information Technology updates, 3) Protiviti and Presidio re-assessments, 4) Florida Municipal Power Pool transmission update, and 5) Risk Management Policy reviews. Board of Directors
FMPA’s Board of Directors meets Thursday in the Board room at 9:30 a.m. to discuss: 1) approval to discontinue publishing legal notices in the Orlando Sentinel for Board meetings, 2) approval of FMPA’s disaster recovery site, 3) approval to periodically evaluate employee benefits, 4) approval of fiscal 2015 Stanton Project budget amendment, and 5) approval of fiscal 2015 Tri-City Project budget amendment. ARP Executive Committee
The ARP Executive Committee meets Thursday in the Board room at 10 a.m. or immediately following the Board of Directors. The Committee will discuss: 1) approval of follow-up response to Auditor General finding No. 2 — natural gas supply agency participation procedure/policy, 2) approval to periodically evaluate employee benefits, 3) approval for expansion of FMPA’s disaster recovery site, and 4) approval of peak shaving monitoring and corrective action procedure. Meter Tech Roundtable
Friday is the deadline to http://fmpa.com/event/meter-tech-roundtable-september-24-2015/> style=color: windowtext;>register for the Meter Tech Roundtable, which is scheduled for Sept. 24 at FMPA’s Orlando office. This new roundtable provides a forum for meter technicians and meter maintenance staff to discuss topics such as operating procedures, equipment, safety, training and more. The roundtable is free, and lunch will be provided. Participation via teleconference will be available for those unable to attend in person. Contact: Sharon Smeenk
APPA Business and Financial Conference
Mark Larson and Rich Popp are in New Orleans, La., today through Wednesday attending the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) Business and Financial Conference. The conference is designed for utility professionals in the areas of accounting and finance, customer accounting and services, human resources and training, information technology, and pricing and market analysis. Discussion topics will include effective and efficient inteal controls, innovative rate designs, financial forecasting and more.

Congratulations to Nick Guarriello, who celebrates six years with FMPA on Wednesday, Sept. 16. Nick also served as interim general manager and was a consultant to FMPA since the Agency’s inception.

Communicators Roundtable
FMPA’s Public Relations Department and the Florida Municipal Electric Association will host a Communicators Roundtable on Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. at FMPA’s Orlando office. The roundtable provides a forum for utility communicators to discuss issues common to communications and marketing departments at public power utilities. Emera to Acquire TECO Energy
Canadian-based utility Emera Inc. reached an agreement on Sept. 4 to acquire TECO Energy in an all-cash deal worth $10.4 billion. The purchase price includes the assumption of approximately $3.9 billion of debt. The agreement comes less than two months after TECO confirmed rumors that it was considering strategic options, including a sale. Emera owns electric generation, transmission and distribution operations, and also provides gas transmission and utility energy services. It operates in Nova Scotia, Maine and the Caribbean. The transaction is expected to close by mid-2016 and is subject to regulatory approvals.
