Jacksonville City Council members approved a plan last Tuesday to give the public a chance to weigh in on the potential sale of JEA by answering a question on the November ballot. The vote will be non-binding. The question will read: “Should the City of Jacksonville City Council call for a binding referendum to approve the terms and conditions of any City Council action approving the sale of more than 10% of JEA? The city’s General Counsel issued an opinion in February that a voter referendum is not required to sell JEA.
