Ocala Signs Large Commercial Customer to 100% Solar
Ocala Electric Utility celebrated the signing of one of its largest commercial customers to go 100% solar through its community solar program with a special event at Signature Brands. The manufacturer and distributor of national brands – including Betty Crocker, Cake Mate and Pumpkin Masters – is one of two commercial customers, along with 44 residential customers in Ocala, that will receive energy from the Florida Municipal Solar Project. Jacob Williams and Susan Schumann attended the event on behalf of FMPA.

Florida Legislative Rally
Representatives from FMPA and Florida’s public power utilities are attending a legislative rally on Monday and Tuesday in Tallahassee, Florida., to meet with state legislators to discuss important electric utility issues. The rally is hosted by the Florida Municipal Electric Association.

MSAC Meeting
FMPA’s Member Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) meets Monday at 1 p.m. via Teams. The committee will consider an action item to revise guidelines for chargeable member service projects and hear six information items. The full agenda package is available on the Portal. Contact: Mike McCleary

Stock Island Appreciation Lunch
Jacob Williams, Ken Rutter and members of FMPA’s power generation team are attending an appreciation lunch for plant staff at the Stock Island Generating Facility on Wednesday. The event is to celebrate the plant’s operating performance in fiscal 2021.

Certified Power Executive Training
FMPA’s new training series called Certified Power Executive kicks off on Feb. 23 at 8:30 a.m. at FMPA’s Orlando office. The deadline to register is Feb. 15. The first session will explore the DiSC® model and how to effectively manage and relate to a team based on various leadership styles. The series runs through December and is designed to provide managers a better understanding of their duties and role in the utility industry. Human Resources Roundtable
Member city staff who work in human resources are encouraged to participate in the Human Resources Roundtable on March 9 at 10 a.m. at FMPA’s Orlando office. The roundtable provides a forum for participants to discuss HR topics such as benefits, recruiting, employee retention, training, policies and more. A teleconference option will be available for participants who are not able to attend in person. The deadline to register for the free roundtable is Feb. 28. Contact: Sharon Samuels

Wednesday marks the 23rd consecutive year that FMPA’s Public Relations Department has published FMPA Weekly.
