St. Lucie License Renewal
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approved the operation licenses for St. Lucie Nuclear Plants Unit 1 and 2 to operate for another 20 years, extending the operational licenses for 2056 and 2063, respectively. While FPL is the primary owner of the unit, FMPA has 8.8 percent ownership share of St. Lucie Unit 2, and this power supply project benefits 18 of its Member cities. Read more about the license renewal here, and learn more about FMPA’s participation with the facility here.

Stanton Unit 1 Project
FMPA successfully closed out its ownership of Stanton 1 Unit last Thursday, successfully assigning it back to OUC. The reassignment was a multi-year process sought after by the ARP, Homestead, and Lake Worth Beach, and it is projected to save these parties an estimated total of $10 million each year. This would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of these three groups as well as the teams at FMPA and OUC, and the Agency will discuss the details further at its upcoming Board of Directors meeting May 21.

RP3 Designation
Applications are open now for the RP3 Designation. The American Public Power Association (APPA) awards the designation to utilities with demonstrated high proficiencies in reliability, safety, workforce development, and system improvement. The Member Services team is available to support your team with the process.

Purchasing Roundtable
Registration closes Thursday for the Purchasing Roundtable schedule for next Tuesday. The roundtable provides a forum for purchasing personnel to meet with their peers from other member utilities to discuss work procedures, policies and practices, industry changes, and other topics of interest.
