Energy Central Podcast
City of Bushnell Electric Utility was featured on Energy Central’s Podcast released last week titled “Wholesale Power Agency, Small Town Utility, and the Power of Working Together.” The podcast episode includes a discussion with Jody Young, Bushnell’s City Manager and Finance Director and FMPA’s Jody Finklea on how working together to increase the customer base allowed the city to enhance its already reliable power systems and provide affordable power to its customers. ARP Telephonic Rate Workshop
The ARP Executive Committee held a rate workshop last Tuesday to review the June All-Requirements Project loads, costs, and rates. Despite Participant loads that were 2.1% above budget and energy sales to others that were 66% above budget, monthly gas costs that were 10% above budget drove total Participant $/MWh costs for June to be 1.6% above budget.  The June average billed demand and energy cost to Participants was $61.75 per MWh. St. Lucie Audit
FMPA’s contract compliance auditors will travel to Juno Beach this week to continue work on the biennial St. Lucie joint owner audit. Contact: Liyuan Woerner

Value of Municipal Utility
Jacob Williams is attending the Fort Pierce City Commission meeting on Monday and will present on the value of being a municipal utility and the benefits it provides to customers and the community. FMPA has provided similar presentations for many of its members. Contact Susan Schumann if you are interested in a presentation for your governing board or a local organization.

Reliability Support
Cairo Vanegas travels to Wauchula on Monday to present the findings of a reliability analysis to the City Commission and discuss FMPA’s Reliability Best Practices Toolkit. The presentation will help Commissioners understand their current data and ways that FMPA can support their long-term commitment to providing reliable service.

FMEA Annual Conference
The 2021 FMEA Annual Conference will be held Tuesday through Thursday at the Naples Grande Beach Resort. The conference brings together elected officials and decision makers of Florida’s municipal electric utilities and hosts informative speakers, networking opportunities and a topical agenda addressing today’s industry issues. The conference will include important business meetings for the Association, including the annual election of officers.

Board of Directors
FMPA’s Board of Directors meets Wednesday at 8 a.m. at the Naples Grande Beach Resort. The Board will consider two action items. The full agenda package is available on the Portal. Contact: Jacob Williams

FMPA State of the Agency
FMPA’s annual Board of Directors luncheon will take place Thursday at noon during the FMEA Annual Conference in Naples. During the luncheon, Jacob Williams will present on the state of the agency and provide an update on how FMPA is working to keep costs low, help members improve reliability and reduce CO2 emissions. A highlight video will be posted to FMPA’s social media pages after the luncheon.

Policy Makers Liaison Committee
FMPA’s Policy Makers Liaisons Committee meets Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Naples Grande Beach Resort. The Committee will consider two action items. The full agenda package is available on the Portal. Contact: Mark McCain

Safety Compliance Workshop
FMPA will host the fourth session of the Safety Compliance for Electric Utilities Distance Learning Series on Friday at 1 p.m. via teleconference. The session will define requirements for minimum approach distances for electric power operations. Contact: Sharon Samuels

General Fund Transfer Survey
Members are reminded to complete FMPA’s survey of utility fund transfers. Only nine cities have completed the survey as of last Friday, and we would like to have all member utilities participate. An email from Sue Utley was sent on July 12 with a link to this year’s survey. The survey includes seven questions and collects data on retail sales, total operating electric revenues and electric fund transfers. Responses are due Friday.

Purchase & Delivery of Ductile Iron Poles Bid
FMPA is preparing to issue a joint Purchase & Delivery of Ductile Iron Poles Bid. The bid will include the FEMA-ready process. FMPA Members that plan to submit applications for FEMA reimbursement are encouraged to participate as a listed Member on the bid. Interested members can contact Sharon Samuels by Friday.

Purchase & Delivery of Concrete Poles and Pole Line Hardware Bids
FMPA is preparing to issue two Joint Purchasing Project Bids, Purchase & Delivery of Concrete Poles and Purchase & Delivery of Pole Line Hardware. The bids will include the FEMA-ready process. FMPA Members that plan to submit applications for FEMA reimbursement are encouraged to participate as a listed Member on the bid. More information on the bids will be provided soon.
