APPA Legislative Rally
Representatives from FMPA, the Florida Municipal Electric Association and 10 Florida public power communities are in Washington, D.C., on Monday through Wednesday attending the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) Legislative Rally. While in the nation’s capital, participants will meet with Senate and House members or their staff to discuss federal legislative issues related to electric utilities, including municipal bonds and comparable incentives, infrastructure and FEMA reimbursement. Human Resources Roundtable
Monday is the deadline to register for the Human Resources Roundtable. The roundtable is scheduled for March 9 at 10 a.m. at FMPA’s Orlando office and provides a forum for participants to discuss HR topics, including benefits, recruiting, employee retention, training, policies and more. A teleconference option will be available for participants not able to attend in person. Contact: Sharon Samuels

Welcome, Jason Novak
Please welcome Jason Novak, who joins the Florida Municipal Power Pool (FMPP) on Monday as the new Operations Analyst. Jason will support FMPP data needs and strategic efforts as utilities add more solar power. Jason has multiple degrees and most recently earned an MBA in cyber security management from St. Leo University. Jason is new to the electric utility industry; however, he has more than 20 years of experience in business analyst and business intelligence roles. Jason will report to Aaron Casto.

Utility Salary Survey
The deadline for members to complete FMPA’s annual utility salary survey is Friday. Survey results will provide members with Florida-specific salary and benefit information. Contact: Sharon Adams

TVPPA Foreman Academy Certification
The deadline to register for the first track of the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association (TVPPA) Foreman Academy Certification is Friday. The first training is scheduled for March 21-24 at FMPA’s Orlando office and will provide crew leaders and general foremen with the knowledge and tools to lead crews efficiently, responsibly and safely. Finance Committee
FMPA’s Finance Committee meeting originally scheduled for March 16 at 2 p.m. has been cancelled. In addition, members and staff are encouraged to decline all calendar invites previously sent by Bianca Scott and accept new invitations from FMPA Administrator.
