New ARP Peak Demand
The All-Requirements Project (ARP) set a new summer peak demand of 1,311 MW on June 16, exceeding the previous record of 1,294 MW set in 2021 for the 13 project participants. The ARP sold an additional 248 MW to third parties for a total load of 1,559 MW. This is the highest amount of energy supplied during any single hour in the ARP’s history.

 

 

Finance Committee
FMPA’s Finance Committee met last Wednesday and approved an amendment to increase the fiscal 2022 All-Requirements Project budget to $225 million, due to rising fuel costs and the extended outage of Cane Island Unit 3. The full agenda package is available on the Portal. Contact: Linda Howard

 

 

Board of Directors
FMPA’s Board of Directors met last Thursday and approved: 1) fiscal 2023 budgets for the Stanton, Tri-City, Stanton II, St. Lucie, Solar, Solar II and Pooled Loan projects, 2) fiscal 2023 Agency allocations, and 3) an extension of the St. Lucie nuclear reliability exchange agreement. Executive Committee
The Executive Committee met last Thursday and approved four action items, including: 1) Fuel Portfolio Management Risk Policy, 2) fiscal 2023 Agency and All-Requirements Project budgets, 3) an amendment to increase the fiscal 2022 All-Requirements Project budget, and 4) a summer-only, pre-paid natural gas transaction with Florida Gas Utilities. General Fund Transfer Survey
FMPA is updating its survey of utility fund transfers for FMPA’s members. Sue Utley will email a link to this year’s survey this week. The survey includes eight questions and collects data on retail sales, total operating electric revenues and electric fund transfers. Results will be used to show the value of municipal electric utilities and the benefits that these transfers provide. Contact: Ryan Dumas

 

 

Joint Solar Committee Meeting
The Florida Municipal Solar Project Committee and the ARP Solar Project Advisory Committee meet on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the FMPA Orlando office to discuss proposals for Phase I, II and III and receive member direction for solar development. Stock Island Appreciation Lunch
Jacob Williams, Ken Rutter and members of FMPA’s power generation team are attending an appreciation lunch for plant staff at the Stock Island Generating Facility on Tuesday. The event is to celebrate the plant’s operating performance in fiscal 2021.

 

 

Distribution Reliability Roundtable
FMPA hosts a Distribution Reliability Roundtable on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Orlando office. The roundtable provides a forum for participants in the Distribution Reliability Program to discuss reliability-related topics and best practices. Contact: Cairo Vanegas
