Welcome, Darren Pressey and Kyle Thomson
Please welcome Darren Pressey and Kyle Thomson, who join FMPA on Monday. Darren is an analyst for the Florida Municipal Power Pool. He has a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Florida A&M University and an IBM Professional Data Analysis Certificate. Kyle is the new Infrastructure System Administrator. He has more than 10 years of industry experience and holds a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from the University of Southern Indiana.

 

Certified Power Executive Training
FMPA hosts the fourth session of the Certified Power Executive Training on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at its Orlando office. The session will focus on conflict mediation and is part of a five-class series designed to provide managers a better understanding of their duties and role in the utility industry. Finance Committee
FMPA’s Finance Committee meets on Wednesday at 2 p.m. to consider an action item to approve a recommendation to the Board of Directors to increase the fiscal 2022 Stanton II budget spending authority. Board of Directors
FMPA’s Board of Directors meets on Thursday at 9 a.m. to consider an action item to increase the Stanton II budget spending authority. Executive Committee
The ARP Executive Committee meets on Thursday, immediately following the Board of Directors meeting. The committee will consider two action items, including 1) updates to the natural gas price risk management strategy, and 2) increase to the spending authority for the containment and remediation of the discharge at the Stock Island Generating Facility. Compliance Workshop
FMPA hosts its annual Compliance Workshop on Sept. 6-7 at FMPA’s Orlando office. A survey was emailed to members last Thursday requesting feedback on suggested discussion topics. The deadline to participate in the survey is Wednesday. A calendar invitation with a Microsoft Teams link and agenda will be emailed soon. Contact: LaKenya VanNorman

 

Power Quality Investigation Workshop 
Registration for the Power Quality Investigation Workshop on Sept. 8 is now open. The workshop will provide an overview of power quality issues encountered by utilities and strategies for analysis and mitigation. The deadline to register is Aug. 30. A teleconference option will be available for those not able to attend in person. Contact: Cairo Vanegas

 

Foreman Academy Certification Series
Participants can now register for the final track of the three-part Foreman Academy Certification series, scheduled for Oct. 24-28 at FMPA’s Orlando office. First time attendees who have not completed the first track are invited to register for the training. The Foreman Academy Certification provides crew leaders and general foremen with the knowledge and tools to lead crews efficiently, responsibly and safely. The deadline to register is Oct. 12.
