The 2023 hurricane season begins Thursday. Forecasts predict a near-normal season with up to 17 named storms, with five to nine of the storms potentially becoming hurricanes with wind speeds of 74 mph or higher. The Florida Municipal Power Pool Hurricane Drill will be conducted next week with all pool participants. The following week FMPA will conduct an internal lesson-learned session, and make any updates to the plans that are needed. FMPA’s staff have reviewed storm plans and roles. If your community is impacted by a hurricane, members are reminded to contact the Florida Municipal Electric Association for mutual aid assistance. Members can contact FMPA for assistance with FEMA documentation, procurement of materials, customer communications and operations support. Hurricane Assistance Contact: Mike McCleary
