FMPA State of the Agency
Jacob Williams presented the FMPA State of the Agency during the FMEA Annual Conference last Thursday. This included a video – titled Regarding Reliability – which featured Keys Energy Services. The video and Jacob’s presentation both focused on the importance of low-cost, reliable electric for Floridians and highlighted the significant achievements within the Florida public power community.
Florida Public Power Reliability Awards
FMPA awarded the Florida Public Power Reliability Awards during last week’s Board of Directors meeting. The awards, which are based on self-reported calendar-year data from the utilities, recognize achievements in outage duration and system improvements. Eighteen utilities won a total of 32 awards. June All-Requirements Project Rate
The average billed demand and energy cost for FMPA’s All-Requirements Project in June was $72/MWh, approximately 6% above budget. The all-in rate increased by $4/MWh compared to prior month projections driven by increases in gas basis costs, higher than expected Duke transmission true-up, and higher Pool costs from revised invoicing. Participant energy sales were 5% above budget, and third-party sales were 22% above budget. Staff discussed that options would be presented to the Executive Committee to take advantage of certain financial benefits received during the year that would otherwise not flow to members through billings until future years. Board of Directors Meeting
The Board of Directors met last Wednesday. The Board reelected its officers, which are Allen Putnam (Jacksonville Beach) as Chair, Bob Page (Green Cove Springs) as Vice Chair, Lynne Tejeda (Key West) as Secretary, and Ed Liberty (Lake Worth Beach) as Treasurer. During the meeting, the Agency and Board awarded utilities with Florida Public Power Reliability Awards), and the Board also heard an update about Member Services. Executive Committee Meeting
The Executive Committee met last Wednesday and reelected Javier Cisneros (Fort Pierce) as Chair and Bob Page (Green Cove Springs) as Vice Chair. The Committee also heard information items, including an update on the KEYS battery storage update project and options for recognizing excess revenues from FY 2026. Member Services Advisory Committee Meeting
The Member Services Advisory Committee (MSAC) met last Thursday, and it reelected Allen Putnam (Jacksonville Beach) as Chair and Billy Branch (Homestead) as Vice Chair. Policy Makers Liaisons Committee Meeting
The Policy Makers Liaisons Committee (PMLC) met last Thursday. The Committee elected Jim Hilty (Ocala) as Chair and Bob Page (Green Cove Springs) as Vice Chair and approved its meeting schedule for 2026 through 2027. Access the agenda package via the Portal. Contact: Susan Schumann
Member Satisfaction Survey Deadline
Friday is the deadline to complete the biennial Member Satisfaction Survey. Great Blue Research distributed the survey, and it requires approximately ten minutes to complete. Your responses provide FMPA with important insights about its Members’ experiences and the services that best benefit them. If you have not received the survey, please check with your IT department for any potential blocked emails from Great Blue. Training Sessions at FMPA
FMPA will host a Buddy-to-Boss with Success Planning training Tuesday and Goal Setting and Planning training Wednesday. Both classes will be at FMPA from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and both courses are a part of the Certified Power Supervisor certification program but may be completed as standalone courses.
