FMPA Wins Local Public Relations Awards
FMPA won two Image Awards last Tuesday at the Florida Public Relations Association Orlando Area Chapter Image Awards. In the institutional video category, FMPA was recognized for its 2021 State of the Agency video, “Together We Can.” In the annual report category, FMPA was recognized for its Fiscal 2020 report, “70-60-50 – Together We Can.” An Image Award is presented to the top-scoring entry in each category and meets predetermined criteria of excellence set by the judges.

FPP Renewable Mindsets Interview
Linda Howard recently participated in an interview with Florida Prosperity Partnership (FPP) for a project focused on renewable mindsets. FPP is a coalition of more than 3,100 partners and members in and beyond Florida, who primarily serve low- and moderate-income individuals and households and are committed to building financial stability. The interview discusses the role technology has played in eco-friendly products and how FMPA is working to provide low-cost, reliable and clean power.

Policy Makers Liaison Committee
FMPA’s Policy Makers Liaison Committee met last Wednesday. Leading climate and environmental activist Michael Shellenberger discussed the intersection of climate, energy and politics. Shellenberger has advised policymakers around the globe and is the best-selling author of “Apocalypse Never.” Michael’s presentation is available on FMPA’s Vimeo page and the full agenda package is available on the Portal.

Finance Committee
FMPA’s Finance Committee met last Wednesday and heard two information items, including proposed new employee benefits and the proposed fiscal 2023 Agency budget. The full agenda package is available on the Portal. Contact: Linda Howard

Board of Directors
FMPA’s Board of Directors met last Thursday and approved new guidelines for chargeable member service projects. The Board also heard five information items including: 1) Solar Phase III update, 2) 2021 reliability update, 3) Pooled Loan program update, 4) summary of Finance Committee items, and 5) the potential use of development funds. ARP Executive Committee
The ARP Executive Committee met last Thursday and approved two action items, including: 1) the development of a new fuel strategy for Stock Island Generating Facility, and 2) an increase in the spending authority to $5 million for the discharge at Stock Island. Welcome, Jose Molina Bravo
Please welcome Jose Molina Bravo, who joins FMPA on Monday as the new Manager of Member Services Development with a specialty in substations. In this role, Jose will work with members to identify needs and develop and market operational and technical services to support members’ distribution systems. Jose has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and is working toward a master’s degree in electrical power. He has more than 23 years of experience in the industry and previously worked at A&N Electric Cooperative as Director of Technical Services. Jose will report to Mike McCleary.

Lineman’s Roundtable
FMPA hosts a Lineman’s Roundtable on Thursday in Williston. The roundtable is open to all levels of line crew personal and utility staff members interested in transmission and distribution topics. The roundtable provides a forum for line crews to exchange ideas on operating practices, safety, training tools, equipment and other common issues. Contact: Sharon Samuels

Purchasing Roundtable
Members interested in attending FMPA’s Purchasing Roundtable are reminded to register by May 2. The roundtable is scheduled for May 12 at 10 a.m. at FMPA’s Orlando office and provides a forum for members to discuss purchasing work procedures, policies and practices, industry changes, and more.
