ARP Rate Workshop
The ARP Executive Committee held a workshop last Tuesday to review the September All-Requirements Project loads, costs and rates. The average billed demand and energy cost was $115.85 per megawatt hour. Energy sales to participants were 4% below budget, bringing the year-to-date total to nearly 0.4% above budget. The average cost of natural gas was $9.28 per MMBtu, or 251% above budget. The agenda package is available on the Portal. 

 

 

Cane Island Unit 4
Cane Island Unit 4 came back online last Thursday after a planned maintenance outage that included work on the combustion and steam turbines and the cooling tower. The work will help enhance the unit’s availability and efficiency for the next four to five years.

 

 

Leesburg Powering Our Community Show
Jacob Williams participated in a segment for Lakefront TV’s “Powering Our Community” show with Leesburg City Commissioner Dan Robuck. The show discussed rising natural gas prices and impacts on utilities and customers. It aired on Sunday and will be available on LakeFront TV’s YouTube channel soon. 

 

 

Natural Gas Price Stability Workshop
FMPA’s Executive Committee meets on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. via Microsoft Teams to discuss creating a natural gas price stability program. The agenda package is available on the Portal. Contact: Jacob Williams 

 

 

Policy Makers Liaisons Committee
FMPA’s Policy Makers Liaisons Committee meets on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. in the Board room. The committee will hear three information items, including: 1) European energy market update, 2) natural gas prices stability and legislative updates, and 3) Florida Municipal Solar Project update. Lunch will be available at noon. A virtual option will be available for those not able to attend in person. The agenda package is available on the Portal. Contact: Susan Schumann 

 

Finance Committee
FMPA’s Finance Committee meets on Wednesday at 2 p.m. to consider two action items, including: 1) review and acceptance of the Orlando Utilities Commission audit, and 2) approval of 2023 meeting schedule. Board of Directors
FMPA’s Board of Directors meets on Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Board room to consider three action items, including 1) approval of 2023 meeting schedule, 2) approval of fiscal 2023 management goals, and 3) approval of annual performance evaluations for FMPA’s General Manager and CEO and General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer. Executive Committee
FMPA’s Executive Committee meets on Thursday immediately following the Board of Directors meeting to consider four action items, including 1) approval of 2023 meeting schedule, 2) approval of Reedy Creek Improvement District capacity and energy sale, 3) approval of revised Rate Schedule B-1 to be effective Oct. 1, and 4) approval of fiscal 2023 management goals. ARP Load Forecast
FMPA has begun work on the 2023 All-Requirements Project (ARP) Load Forecast, which predicts peak and energy loads for ARP cities. The forecast is updated each year to ensure members have adequate low-cost power generation and to support FMPA’s annual budget process. This year’s forecast will also be utilized in the upcoming Integrated Resource Plan. Members should contact Bob Nelcoski to provide retail data through September 2022.
