Treasure Coast Energy Center
Treasure Coast Energy Center Unit 1 achieved a milestone on Dec. 3 when it completed an operating run of 229 continuous days without being taken offline. That is equivalent to working 24 hours a day, seven days a week for nearly eight months straight. The unit was taken offline for a scheduled maintenance outage. The run is just shy of Cane Island Unit 3’s record of 234 continuous days set in October 2021.
Finance Committee
FMPA’s Finance Committee met last Wednesday and approved changes to the Contract Risk Management Policy. The committee also heard eight information items and agreed to meet on Jan. 11 to consider the approval of the fiscal 2022 financial audit. The agenda package is available on the Portal. ARP Rate Workshop
The All-Requirements Project meets on Tuesday at 2 p.m. via Microsoft Teams to review project loads, costs and rates for November. The agenda package will be posted on the Portal prior to the workshop. Contact: Jason Wolfe
Utility Purchasing and Material Management Certificate
FMPA will host the first session of the four-part Utility Purchasing and Material Management Certificate program on Jan. 17-18. The course is designed for public power purchasing personnel and focuses on contracts, quality metrics, work order systems, negotiations, business strategies and utility case studies. Participants must attend all classes to obtain the certificate.
Special Presentation During January PMLC Meeting
Author, journalist, film producer and podcaster Robert Bryce will present on renewables, hydrocarbons and the future of the electric grid during the Policy Makers Liaisons Committee meeting on Jan. 18 at 12:30 p.m. Robert has more than three decades of experience writing about energy, power, innovation and politics. FMPA’s Board of Directors, Executive Committee and member utility staff are encouraged to participate. Rachel Ilardi emailed a calendar invitation with details on Dec. 7. Regional Crew Leader Roundtables
FMPA will host five Crew Leader Roundtables in January and February. The roundtables provide an opportunity for foremen or crew leaders to discuss common issues and best practices. The host utilities include Bartow, Homestead, Mount Dora, Quincy and Williston. Registration is available on FMPA’s website.
FMPA Holiday Schedule
FMPA’s offices will be closed on Dec. 23 and Dec. 26 in observance of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The office will also be closed Dec. 30 and Jan. 2 in observance of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
